Francesco Zarrella
LUCETTA DINING

When we talk about the people who shape the flavour and spirit of Orange, Francesco is one of the first who comes to mind. He arrived here with his family seeking space, seasons and community. In return, he’s given this region a restaurant that feels deeply connected to place. His warmth, his generosity and his love of food have become part of the fabric of Orange and it’s been a joy to watch Lucetta grow into a home for locals and visitors alike.
Why Orange?
Orange felt like the perfect place to raise the children – a chance to step away from Sydney life and give them space, seasons and a slower rhythm. After travelling here many times, I fell in love with the vibe, the changing landscape, the sense of community… and honestly, the joy of no traffic. It ticked every box for the life we wanted.
When we finally made the move, the warmth of the people here confirmed it instantly. Everyone was kind, welcoming and generous. It made Orange feel like home from day one.
Life in Orange
Living in Orange gives me more time with my family and a deeper connection to the seasonal food scene that inspires my cooking. Being surrounded by growers, winemakers and producers who are passionate about this region makes my job even more exciting.
People here are always willing to lend a hand, share knowledge and support each other. Every day I meet more incredible locals who remind me why this place is so special.
My Flavour
If I had to choose a ChaLou Wine that matches my mood, it would be ChaLou Pinot. I love it with a simple pasta ragù — and always with old‑school RnB playing in the background.
My Rhythm
A typical day starts with a morning coffee at Good Eddy – it always hits the spot. Weekends are for my two beautiful daughters, whether we’re heading out for lunch or going for a swim.
And I absolutely love winter here. Nothing beats a fireplace, a movie and a glass of wine.
My Community
The winemakers and farmers in Orange inspire me every day. Their passion and enthusiasm for this region made me want to contribute something meaningful to it.
That’s how Lucetta Dining was born — a way to leave a beautiful mark on the place that welcomed us so warmly.
My Orange Moment
My defining Orange moment was opening Lucetta Dining and feeling the overwhelming support from the local community.
The restaurant is dedicated to my daughters, Lucy and Juliette — their names combined to create Lucetta. Watching them walk into the restaurant and feel like it’s their second home means everything to me.
