Megan Milton

Canowindra florist

We're hosting Megan from Edellen Flower Farm for a wreath making workshop as part of Crafted at ChaLou Wines

From flower farm to florist shop, Megan’s story is rooted in the soil of Central West NSW. What began as a love for the land has grown into Edellen Flowers, her Canowindra-based shop known for nostalgic blooms. This season, she’s bringing that signature style to ChaLou’s Crafted series—hosting a wreath-making workshop that celebrates the textures, colours, and creative rhythm of the Central West.

Why Central West NSW?

I moved to Orange thirteen years ago when my husband took a job with Newcrest. We came from Tasmania, and it didn’t take long for me to feel the rhythm of Central West NSW—something about the light, the space, the pace. Eight years ago, we bought a farm, raised our kids, and slowly fell in love with Canowindra. That love grew into a flower farm—and now into my florist shop, Edellen Flowers, right on Canowindra’s Main Street.

From Tasmania to Canowindra:

We came here for my husband’s work, but it didn’t take long for the place to feel like home. Buying our farm was a turning point—it gave our kids space to grow, and gave me the chance to start something of my own. I fell in love with Canowindra and decided to build a flower farm, which eventually became my florist shop in town.

How the Central West Shapes My Style

My style is shaped by the country itself. I’m drawn to vintage pieces and flowers that feel familiar—like the ones our grandmothers grew in their farmhouse gardens. Everything I create comes from that love of my surroundings.

My Favourite ChaLou Wine Pairing

I’m a Rosé person—ChaLou Skinny is my go-to. I pair it with a local cheese and charcuterie board, usually on the verandah on a Sunday afternoon. Lately, Fleetwood Mac has been on repeat.

A Day in the Life of a Canowindra Florist

Most days start in the garden, picking flowers or catching up with other growers to plan the week. I love my veggie patch too—and cooking is a big part of my day. I’m always thinking about dinner and how to feed my family well. After that, I head into the shop. I’m constantly rearranging things and chatting with my favourite locals.

My Creative Community in Canowindra

Canowindra has backed me from the beginning. I started out working at the pharmacy, then the coffee shop, and the idea for the flower farm grew from there. We’ve got so many creatives here who’ve encouraged me to stick to my style and stay true to my vision.

Sunset in the Central West:

Driving home in my old Datsun at sunset, with canola fields glowing gold in spring. That’s the moment that sums it all up.
