Seasonal Update
As autumn sets in, we are wrapping up the 2025 vintage. It’s been a fantastic harvest, with the cool snaps in late February and early March providing a lovely extension to the season. We have just a bit of Riesling left, which we’re using for a late pick, along with the Syrah.
Here are a few highlights from the season:
Our very first harvest of Chenin Blanc.
Our new Chardonnay planting has come online, meaning we will finally have more Chardonnay to share with you all.
The Pinot Noirs are all pressed and looking exceptional!
As we settle down and pack up the wines for the cooler months, it’s always a thrill to taste everything and reflect on the season.
Events
We are thrilled to be hosting The What If Society at our picturesque ChaLou Wines in Orange for two events in May. Join us as we bring our commitment to sustainability and community to life. This special weekend will be filled with education, delicious food, and meaningful conversations, all set against the stunning backdrop of our winery.
Recipes from Our Table
Once a month, our team gathers for a special lunch at our Cellar Door, enjoying seasonal recipes made with fresh, local produce. During vintage, time is of the essence, so we’ve enjoyed buying quiche from our fabulous local bakery, Racine. When things calm down, we’re looking forward to cooking this za’atar chicken to pair with our new Pinot Gris.
Wines to Suit the Season

Venues/events we want to try/attend
Mahaliy 2025 Lebanese Feast: This special event, taking place on April 4th during Orange F.O.O.D Week, is a collaboration with Banksia. It gives you the opportunity to savour our wines paired with Executive Chef of Union Bank and Banksia, Dom Aboud’s delicious Lebanese dishes, while connecting with Steve and experiencing new flavours. Click here to book.
Such and Such: We’ve read lots about this fab venue in Canberra and are excited to get there sometime very soon! Get there before us? Let us know what you think.
Venues We’re Loving
Fiorini’s: We had a night out here with the girls for Nadja’s birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and recommend locals and visitors to town pop out for some Italian in the Orange countryside.
Hey Rosey: Especially on a Sunday night for the Feed Me menu. The vibes are fun and so relaxed. The food is mighty delicious, especially when paired with a wine or three.
ChaLou Wines to pour right now…
2023 Sauvignon Blanc: This drop is still new to us! We’re excited about this launch and the unique ChaLou spin we’ve taken to create this wine. You’ll get aromatic notes of grapefruit and lime, baking spice, and cashew. On the palate, it has generous lychee and yellow grapefruit with delicious, driving mineral acidity and fine texture.
2024 Pinot Gris: This NEW drop is ready for pouring. It’s got a savory yet fragrant expression—quince and nashi pear with a hint of ginger and lemon rind. Give it a taste and let us know what you think…
2022 Syrah: Our 2022 Syrah has started to hold its own. It’s a bold wine but still holds the lighter notes typical of a cool-climate style, making it the perfect drop for a cooler autumn evening once the sun has set.
